12 years of marriage and he amazes me
Published on May 7, 2008 By KarmaGirl In Personal Relationships

Yesterday was my Birthday.  My husband usually doesn't buy me much for my Birthday.  However, I have a feeling that he sensed my annoyance with him not getting me anything (even a card) for Valentine's day (he was snowmobiling that day) or our Anniversary.  And by "sense", what I really mean is the things I say or email him (I'm a bit of a "speak your mind" kind of person, lol).

Anyway, men are men.  They don't always think about their wife the same way they did before they married her.  It's just something women get used to.  They don't like it that way, but I think most of us just accept it and move on.  Chalk it up to "typical husband" behavior.

My husband actually shocked me this time, though.  I had been saying that I rather have a band to wear instead of my actual wedding rings.  I've become tired of the diamonds and wanted something that reflects me a bit more.  I had picked out a ring from Hawaii.  It has a Plumeria design on it, which I really liked because I like nature and crap.

So, at this point, you are probably assuming that he bought me that ring.  Which he did!  And that was cool all by itself.  However, he did something completely unexpected and had it made custom to me- he had it engraved with one word that means a lot to me: "Karma".

So, here are some pics:

Yeah...that is my plastic Iguana holding the ring.  She does a good job of modeling it.

I thought he trained a lizard to give you a ring.   Which, you have to admit would've been so freaking awesome.

I reckon we men have a few tricks up our sleeves here and there.

What a sweetie.

The ring is great, so original.  Bet you won't run into anyone else with one often...and none like yours.

I stopped wearing my wedding/engagement ring combo about four years into our marriage.  I am too rough on jewelry and need something flatter.  I wore a plain gold band for about 3 years and then on our 7th anniversary he gave me a gold band with channel set diamonds in it.  Which is nice because no matter what I do, can't knock those diamonds out.

I'm glad your husband came through for you like that.  The ring is gorgeous.

Don't ya just love it when men redeem themselves like that?

Yeah...I like the unexpected.  lol

Dude!  That would rock!

I hear ya'.  I quit wearing my wedding set when my daughter was born because I was afraid of scratching her.  Now I only wear it on special occasions.  I have a "anniversary" band ring, but it just doesn't work for me for some reason.  I guess I just don't care about the flashy stuff much.

The ring is gorgeous.

I agree,  It's even more gorgeous to me considering the person who gave it to me.

Those are rare. You could probably get some money on eBay.
