A silly place filled with caffeine induced ramblings of this person named KarmaGirl....or something.

There is this this new storage device for digital photographers.

It's called "EZDigiMagic"

It's a great solution for many photographers.  It is basically a CD burner and card reader that has a one button operation to copy the card contents onto a CD.  The added bonus is that it is completely dependant and can be powered by an AC adapter or 4 rechargeable AA batteries.  (No more taking your laptop to copy files to)

So, with this device, you don't need multiple memory card/mirco drives.  At about $270, it is also a great tool for making CDs directly from your memory card.

More info can be found at: http://www.ezdigimagic.com

I haven't used one yet, but if I get the chance to, I will report on how well it works.

There are also so called Image Tanks - basically the same but with a hard disk. I am not sure that the CD-R one is better - the CD is only a bit bigger than my current card (512MB) so I cannot dump it more than once without taking a pile of cd's with me as well - it's also most probably considerably bigger than the HDD solution. But the CD sure has advantage if you e.g. want to show your shots to someone on a computer that does not have a card reader and you cannot connect your camera to it in any way.

Yeah, the hard drives are a good solution, too.  It also writes it in an image that can be viewed on current DVD players.  So, I think where it shines is at events like weddings.  Think of this- you take pictures of the wedding, burn them to the disk, then set them up on a DVD player + screen for everyone to watch.  Or, take pictures at the wedding and give the CD to the couple before leaving.

It also would be good when you are concerned about transporting a hard drive, or in situations where your equipment might get banged around.  A bit of "piece of mind" with a CD versus still on a hard drive.

Hows your "digital photo" life going?  Getting some good shots?  You should write a review on your camera.

Yes, the fragility of the HDD is kind of concern, once it's on a CD it's much safer, though I'd expect the recorder to be pretty delicate itself as well.
I wouldn't risk doing that at the wedding though, a number of issues could emmerge, from things like:
"Where are some of the pictures i have on that CD"
to
"That's the best shot on the wedding - too bad it's so out of focus". Out of eyes - out of heart

The camera is great.

The guy I ordered the camera initially blew it - I'm not sure why but he didn't really seem very concerned about the sale.

The complete oposite was the other guy I called like 12.00 (4 hours before the wedding - once the shop I was initially going to buy it from will not deliver it on time) and just if he had one in a shop in Poznan (my city).

I was quite shocked since I first only called him to ask about the camera being somewhere on stock in Poznan. Delivery at 16.00 (as he initially proposed) was too late - since the ceremony started 16.30 - I gave up. Though I called him second time to talk about delivery another day - he was all like "We better hang up, my cooperate is probably already calling you - your camera is on the way". Mind that I didn't even gave him my phone number (Caller ID worked for him though) or actually ordered it.

I had my camera delivered by his cooperate from accros the country running and shooting (he needed to load the batery before he left) within 3 hours!
