A silly place filled with caffeine induced ramblings of this person named KarmaGirl....or something.

It was a sad day today.  Our beloved Sophie the solid wax printer gave up her good fight.  She had been ill for quite some time, suffering from internal bleeding (magenta ink was leaking), and just not acting like herself.

This morning she was really bad.  Her internal bleeding has caused a large mass to form.  The extra wax was removed, but she refused to accept her upper paper tray.  Further inspection showed that she had a part that broke off which would not be mended (heck, we're not even sure where it came from).

We had to remove her from life support at about 9am this morning.  It's a sad day indeed.

RIP dear friend..... And, don't get too mad that we already had replaced you.......

Sniff.  Sophie could never be replaced. Only succeeded.  The Phaser 850DX was a wonderful model and Sophie did her best.  Now, her descendent, the Phaser 8400 will do its best to fill those big shoes..

True, she can never truly be "replaced".  I'm just trying to cope with this horrible loss....a loss that is felt throughout the office on this gloomy day.

my heart goes out to you in this time of sorrow...

i'm truly sorry for your loss... it's time like these that make me truly appreciate the great Brother MFC-5100 combination printer/fax/copier/scanner that I have in my life...

perhaps you should cremate her and spread the ashes over her favorite place...

Thank you for your condolences, imajinit.  It's been a rough day trying to figure out arrangements for her and so forth.  It doesn't look like she has any organs that they will take for donation, but at least we can sell some of her ink back.

Now we need to name the newer printer......

I say you should throw a wake for Sophie and decide the name of the new printer once everyone is nice and sauced up.  Make sure I'm there!   I've always liked the name Spencer.

Oh, how sad!

How old was she?  It sounds like she had a long, productive life, so I guess there's some consolation to be found in that.

My thoughts are with you all...

When I first read this, I thought you said "pointer". I'm a dog lover, and as I read on, feeling very, very sad for you, I thought to myself, "What the hell is she talking about?"
Ohhhhhhhhh.............. printer............. never mind. OL

My condolences, anyway.

The printer is dead... long live the printer...

I will watch OfficeSpace again tonight for tips on "When Good Printers Go Bad". Wasn't that a Dateline special? Or was it 60 Minutes II, I never can remember...

I understand completely. I felt sad the day I had to replace my second computer. It was a Blaster PC, a PIII, and it ran for four and half years without problems. After a couple of incidences of blue screen and strange clankity-clank noises, it died. It was the best computer a girl could have. I still have the handsome casing right here.

(I'm really not kidding about feeling sad about moving on from the Blaster PC.)

Thank you for all your kind thoughts about Sophie.

We currently are having a (dry) wake for her.  Viewing is available during office hours.....please ignore the "Sophie is dead, use the 8400" note on her.  I'm not sure Brad would be real happy if we were all drunk at work....unless we fed him many margaritas to the point he wouldn't care......

Jill, I like your idea of "Spencer".  We'll have to kick that around.

Helix,

Maybe we could rework BOC's lyrics for "spencer":

"Oh, no, there goes tokyo, go go now Spencer!"

hmmm...needs more cowbell...

I also like the name Nigel.

Could you hear U2 singing "Your own...personal....Printer.."

Actually, that was Depeche Mode.

I've never seen Depeche Mode and U2 play in the same venue at the same time... Hm.

Kind of like Satan and Santa...all the same letters...same color scheme...never in the same place...
