A silly place filled with caffeine induced ramblings of this person named KarmaGirl....or something.
it's a good thing to do now and then

Every year around this time I look at my life and what I have accomplished.  I try to keep things in perspective.  I hear so many people who only talk about what they haven't done (which I have a huge list of, too) but seem to lose track of what they *have* done.

This is the "cliff notes" version of this years evaluation:

- Today is my 9th wedding anniversary with the man I adore.

- In about 3 weeks I will be 33.

- I only have a 2 year degree, but I never let that stand in my way.

- In about 6 weeks I will have my 10th anniversary at work, which is a place I love working at.

- In 10 years, I have climbed up to as far as I can without taking over the the CEO (which will never happen)

- I now wear two hats at work: VP of Operations and temporary VP of Business Development (You could combine them into one title, but it gets pretty long)

- I have an adorable 6 1/2 year old daughter who gives me hugs and kisses and tells me that she loves me every day.

- I have debt (who doesn't?) but it's completely manageable, and I live a comfortable life.

- I have a long drive, but the new office will be closer to home.

- I'm getting an office with a window in the new building, which I got to choose carpet and wallpaper for myself.

- I have serious illnesses, but I've learned to live with them and manage them so they don't rule my life.

- I have friends and family that I trust and can count on.

- My boss is my friend not my foe.

- I like going to work and I like going home.

My world is not perfect, but it's pretty damn good.

Thanks! I have to agree.  However, there are also "bad" things.  But, I don't let them cloud my view.  I think that too many people concentrate on the negative in their lives and lose track of the positive.

congratulations. sounds like youre in the right place at the right time for yourself.

(i dunno if you saw my question--on tw's blog--bout whether you know the guy/family who used to/maybe still do own boyne mountain ski resort; used to have like a 6 car garage and a two-story 'doll house' next to the real one, as well as owning several miles of the boyne river.)

Karma, I am like you in the fact that I try to concentrate on what I have rather than what I don't. I have found that life becomes a series of unexpected pleasantries when you aren't always dwelling on what you wish would happen.

Congratulations on the 9th anniversary!! Time sure flies!

Kingbee, about the family that owns Boyne Mountain, I think you are referring to the Kirchers. I am almost 35, grew up up there and know the Kirchers only casually through swim school and through the Smith family who own The Waterstreet Inn and other condos on Lake Charlevoix. The Kircher kids were quite a few years older than I. That is one incredibly wealthy family!

Ah, yes, the Kirchers....the family that owns half of Northern Michigan......

The original owner was Everet..Evrette....Everett (something like that) Kircher.  He was originally from the Detroit area and bought Boyne Mountain for a $1.  ONE DOLLAR!!!!!!  I hate people like that LOL
