Every year around this time I look at my life and what I have accomplished. I try to keep things in perspective. I hear so many people who only talk about what they haven't done (which I have a huge list of, too) but seem to lose track of what they *have* done.
This is the "cliff notes" version of this years evaluation:
- Today is my 9th wedding anniversary with the man I adore.
- In about 3 weeks I will be 33.
- I only have a 2 year degree, but I never let that stand in my way.
- In about 6 weeks I will have my 10th anniversary at work, which is a place I love working at.
- In 10 years, I have climbed up to as far as I can without taking over the the CEO (which will never happen)
- I now wear two hats at work: VP of Operations and temporary VP of Business Development (You could combine them into one title, but it gets pretty long)
- I have an adorable 6 1/2 year old daughter who gives me hugs and kisses and tells me that she loves me every day.
- I have debt (who doesn't?) but it's completely manageable, and I live a comfortable life.
- I have a long drive, but the new office will be closer to home.
- I'm getting an office with a window in the new building, which I got to choose carpet and wallpaper for myself.
- I have serious illnesses, but I've learned to live with them and manage them so they don't rule my life.
- I have friends and family that I trust and can count on.
- My boss is my friend not my foe.
- I like going to work and I like going home.
My world is not perfect, but it's pretty damn good.
