Life is good.....

I own the Fuji S2 Pro digital camera. I really like the camera, but it is not happy with my Sunpack flash. The S2 is built off the Nikon N80 body, which makes it highly compatible with Nikon accessories.

So, after some searching on the net, I decided that the SB-800 (which is the latest greatest flash from Nikon) was what I needed. I went to the local camera shop and asked to see the last one that they had. It was love at first sight.

This flash is amazing. I think it is actually smarter than I am. It is an auto focus flash, so it compensates for the focal length of your lens. It reads the aperture, shutter speed and ISO setting from your camera. It also has a bizzilion settings that allow you to override everything if you want to.

Now, if that isn't enough, you can also use it as a wireless slave unit and it even comes with it's own stand for that purpose. (This is a great feature for wedding photography). It also comes with a diffusion dome, gel filters and this really cool quick charge battery pack.

So, I had to take it one step further and get the off camera cord for it. They even updated it so that all the TTL functions of the flash remain while off the hotshoe.

If you have the $350+ to spend on it, it is *totally* worth the money. I have never seen a flash that has these many features to it. And, the plus side of Nikon equipment is that it doesn't lose value quickly. Models 2 years back are still selling on eBay for $300.

The Nikon SB-800 gets a 5 coffee cup rating. This flash is simply the best they have had yet!
