A silly place filled with caffeine induced ramblings of this person named KarmaGirl....or something.

So, you have an S2 camera (or many of the Nikon camera bodies like the N80) and you wonder why some lenses cost so much, others don't, and which one you should use. Well, There are basically two different types of Nikon lenses: D and G What is the main difference?  There is an aperture ring on the D but not on the G.  On the G lenses, the camera body sets the aperture, which won't work on cameras that don't have that feature.  The G lenses are the same qua...

There are a lot of people who are scared of having their pictures taken in digital format. Though the Fuji S2 Pro takes fantastic pictures some people will still want film. Well, if you are like me, you really don't have enough cash to have two set ups. But, if you are like me, you really need it. So, what do you do? My recommendation is getting the S2 and the N80. Why? Because the S2 is built off the N80 body. That is why all the Nikon accessories work so well on the S2. All your l...

I own the Fuji S2 Pro digital camera. I really like the camera, but it is not happy with my Sunpack flash. The S2 is built off the Nikon N80 body, which makes it highly compatible with Nikon accessories. So, after some searching on the net, I decided that the SB-800 (which is the latest greatest flash from Nikon) was what I needed. I went to the local camera shop and asked to see the last one that they had. It was love at first sight. This flash is amazing. I think it is actually smar...

There are many people who don't even know what a thyroid is. Well, it's a gland that sits in your neck and regulates your metabolism. Most people think of your metabolism in the terms of if you are naturally skinny or fat. But, that is just a little bit of it. Your metabolism effects your energy, skin, tolerance of cold, and many other things. So, to get a little more technical about it: Your thyroid is part of your endocrine system. Your endocrine system is basically all the glands...

I have been shooting with the Fuji S2 Pro digital camera for a few months now. Though it has been an impressive camera, I have been a little disappointed with its focusing. It seemed to either soft focus or miss the object that it should have focused on. At first, I thought that maybe it had some odd aperture issue. I played with it, and nothing changed. I then checked the metering options, nothing made a change. I then played with the auto focus option- still no change. I searched ...

We have a new rep from SPA (they are the people who print CDs and stuff if we need them- which isn't very often). He stopped by to say hello and try to sell something. He handed me a CD and said: "It's currently a PDF, but we plan to do something better with it soon." By the end of the conversation, he didn't sell me anything, but I am pretty sure that he will be buying the DesktopX auto-run/application presenter when we get it ready to sell. Life is funny that way.

My daughter and I usually go grocery shopping together every Saturday. This Saturday was no different, except I also had to go to the bank, pick up a prescription, buy some printer paper, and return some stuff from Christmas. So, it was to be a busy day. After going to the bank, my daughter tells me that she is “starving” and “needs” to go to McDonald’s. I really don’t like McDonald’s food, but I usually get a coffee and watch her play after she picks at her Happy Meal. Of course, I ha...

So, I have very little caffeine now. I drink plenty of water. I even have returned to a moderate vegetarian lifestyle. Don't eat late at night, and have increased my exercise. Things seemed to be all going well...... Then, the night before last, the insomnia returned. At 1:30am I was pretty sure I was going to die. I finally fell asleep at 2am only to be woke up by the puppy at 2:30am (she really had to pee...so I had to get up and let her outside). I was then awake until 4ish. Then t...

I have recently run into a person that is a fraud. He has gone around to different art sites and uploaded stuff under different user names with different account info for the different user names, but uses the same artwork. It's now obvious that it is not his work. The odd thing is- he has actually talked to me here at work while calling about technical issues with his software. It really makes me wonder why somebody would go to these measures. Our site even defended him against people in...

Over the holidays, one of my cousins died in his sleep of a heart attack. He was 41 years old. It's not uncommon for young people to have heart attacks on that side of my family. My Grandmother had a heart attack in her mid 30's (she is still alive) and has had at least two more since then. Three of the Five children that she had have had heart attacks, and a few of the grandkids have also had heart problems. In general, it's a whole glob of bad genetics. Of course, my genetics seem to go...

I finally got my act together and started a weekend photography business. Since my "toys" cost so much, and so many people ask me to shoot photos for them, I decided that I would start a business. Now, I thought about it a long time and considered the ways of doing it. I also considered what type of photography I like. This is what I decided: 1) it will all be on-site. No studio work. I really don't like studio work 2) I will focus on weddings, because, well, that is where the money is...

We had a great dog when I was growing up. She died when I was 13. She was a golden colored pembroke welsh corgi. I have always wanted a welsh corgi, but somehow fell into a nest of weiner dogs instead (I have 3 mini dachshunds). So, just to prove that I really am insane, I bought a (tri colored) pembroke welsh corgi. Her name is "Holly" and my 5 year old daughter completely loves her. My daughter loves her so much that she will even try to help clean up messes. This, however, is not reall...

It's an odd season. Many people talk about giving gifts and helping people, but do they really mean it? Sometimes I think that people talk just to talk and never have any real commitment to what they say. For instance, I purchased a fairly large gift for my Mom this year. It was something that she needed and we could afford it but she couldn't. I got really mixed reactions when people heard about it. A lot told me I was insane. Others acted hostile that I did it (maybe they are jealous)...
