After much consideration, I decided to change my presence on JoeUser.  Why is that?  Because, life is too short to deal with things that you don't have to. So, I would like everyone to meet "JavaBrain".  JavaBrain is a nickname that I used prior to becoming "KarmaGirl".  I quit using it because people always assumed that I was a male Java programmer.  (Java being for coffee, not programming).  Why is JavaBrain now important?  Because JavaBrain is now my admi...

I decided to join eDiets.  I actually am following Weight Watchers, but eDiets has a nice forum and I wanted some new recipes.  I like to eat mainly Vegetarian (and it's hard to get new recipes) so that is the meal plan that I opted for.  When my "meal plan" screen came up, this is what I got: So, by this, chicken and beef are vegetarian.  Who knew?  LOL Anyway, it was some bug.  They have "live" chat who were quick to fix it.  They said that there...

I was on medical leave from work for 3 weeks.  I got really bored after awhile because there wasn't much I could do.  So, I started looking on eBay for photo studio stuff.  If you ever decide to start a studio, use eBay for some of the basics.  You can get new backgrounds and props for basically 1/3 wholesale.  I bought a 10' x 20' scenic muslin for $70.  It wholesales for $269 and retails for over $300.  I also bought some other props, then used them...

I have been watching too much TV lately (been home recovering from surgery).  I have this odd fascination with the shows that discuss divorces.  I really don't understand divorce, so I guess I keep trying to figure out why it happens so very often.  The statement that I hear most is "he/she is not the man/woman that I married".  I think to myself, "really?  Like you are the person that *they* married?" My husband is not the man I married.  I am not the woman...

Yesterday we rented the movie "50 First Dates".  It stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.  http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/50firstdates/ I wasn't sure about this movie, because I either like or really hate Adam Sandler movies.  Luckily, this was one that I liked. I don't know if it was the mood that I was in in or what, but my husband and I laughed at *so* many parts of this movie.  The main premise is that Drew's character (Lucy) was in an accident and loses her ...

Many of you have probably tried Coke C2.  I was impressed with C2, so I decided to try Pepsi Edge, which is Pepsi's low calorie cola. Let me tell you this- they are not the same.  If you like diet Pepsi and just want it a little sweeter, Edge is for you.  If you are expecting the same results that C2 has, you will be disappointed.  It does not taste like regular Pepsi at all.  It tastes like sweetened Diet Pepsi. On another note: how many different kinds of Pepsi c...

A blonde goes into work one morning crying her eyes out. Her boss, concerned about his employee's well being, asks sympathetically, "What's the matter?" The blonde replies, "Early this morning I got a phone call saying that my mother had passed away." "I'm terribly sorry to hear that. Why don't you go home for the day... we aren't terribly busy. Just take the day off to relax and rest." The blonde very calmly explains, "No, I'd be better off here. I need to keep my mind off it and ...

I want to make something perfectly clear about the forums- they are moderated because they are syndicated.  The admins of this site have the right to decide what will be allowed on the forums because of this. Articles that we do not feel are appropriate for the forums will be hid.  This is not censorship of your blog, as the article will remain on your blog.  It simply will not show on the forum. If you don't want moderation, please do not post your article to the forums. ...

There have been *so* many articles about the current discussions on JU. Breath in......Breath out We have people saying it's "toxic" here but keep posting.  We have people saying they are going to leave.  We have others calling each other "morons".  We have yet others complaining of "censorship" because we moderate the forums in the slightest amount. First, it is a phase.  This is an online community, and like all communities, some neighbors will leave and others wil...

There is this this new storage device for digital photographers. It's called "EZDigiMagic" It's a great solution for many photographers.  It is basically a CD burner and card reader that has a one button operation to copy the card contents onto a CD.  The added bonus is that it is completely dependant and can be powered by an AC adapter or 4 rechargeable AA batteries.  (No more taking your laptop to copy files to) So, with this device, you don't need multip...

Are you a cola drinker?  Have you ever mixed half regular and half diet cola at a fountain and wondered why the soft drink makers didn't do the same? Well, they have.  It's called Coca-Cola C2.  It's not calorie free, it's not full calorie, and it's not "diet".  It's a mix.  There is 70 calories in a 12 oz can compared to about 150 in regular Coke.  It also only has 18 grams of sugar compared to 39 in regular Coke. I quit drinking Coke awhile ago because the s...

As I mentioned in a previous article, I was recently told that I have Type 2 diabetes.  My doctor wants to try to control it with diet which will lower my weight and control glucose at the same time. Well, apparently, the "prescribed" diet has not helped at all (even though I have dropped a few pounds) and my glucose levels are actually higher than they were before.  *sigh* So, my doctor suggested trying the South Beach Diet.  I said "No way!  I'm not doing the low carb...

I grew up with pack rat instincts.  I reuse stuff when I can, and I recycle what I can't because garbage seems like such a waste.  (We only have 3/4 of a bag of garbage a week that we throw out from our household). However, it's hard.  Everything in todays world is throw away.  I caught myself doing this because I like to save money.....wait...what was that I just said?  Yep, it's true.  To save money, you end up throwing more things out in todays world. Thing...

Dear Bob the psycho VW Freak, I have deleted the article about putting a Karmann Ghia on a custom chassis.  Now, go away.  You need professional help.  I am glad that you think that I am going to hell for ripping up a classic VW. I am glad that you got your kicks out of posting as me on car sites.  That was a nice touch.  Though, I am a bit scared that you read all my articles and pulled out so much information about me.  I think I have learned that there are ...
